Boxer
Rescue Ontario is a nonprofit organization of volunteers dedicated to placing
homeless boxers in loving homes and promoting responsible pet ownership
in and around Ontario. We are an affiliate of Boxer
Rescue Canada and work with other rescue groups, shelters, veterinarians,
breeders, and the public to achieve these goals.
The
dogs we rescue are usually homeless through no fault of their own. Generally,
they are either surrendered to us directly by their previous owners or come
to us through shelters which are happy for any help they can get. They
are given up or dumped for various reasons though with boxers it is rarely
temperament related.
Once
in our program the boxers are placed in foster homes where they are assessed
and provided with any needed medical attention. In addition to assessing
the dogs we spend a lot of time and effort to assess potential homes. Each
dog is an individual and once we have a good idea of its special needs we
will match it with its new permanent family. To promote responsible pet
ownership all rescue dogs are placed either spayed/neutered, or under signed
contract to have it done.
Like
other rescue groups our work relies on the generosity of our volunteers
and the public. We ask adopters for a standard donation towards our extensive
vet costs however in the end we must still rely on fundraising and your
donations.
