Rest In Peace

click for enlarged imageAlthough we only had our Pepper (aka Pepperoni!) for a short time of nine months, he quickly became a part of our family and it was like we had him forever. When he first came to us he had almost no fur on his body except for on his head and many health problems. So we set about to try to fix and heal him and make him as healthy as we could.

He was an old boy of about nine years, but you never would have known it. He had the energy and strength of a young pup! He was the most affectionate big boy I’ve ever met! He accepted us almost immediately as his new parents and we accepted him into our hearts just as quickly. He loved to be cuddled and couldn’t get enough attention, something which I know had been lacking in his life before. He would come up to us when we were sitting on the couch and put his big velvety white head on our laps and let out a little whine to say, hey, I’m here if you want to give me some love! He would even fall asleep standing up while petting him and his big silly tongue would eventually hang out of his mouth when he was tired and content.

He went on hikes, went in the canoe, had some swims in the lake, lied in the hammock with us, slept with us in the tent and sat by the campfire at night. He loved his rides in the car and would lean on the window sill with his elbow and watch the scenery go by and his favorite thing to do was to lie down and have a nap while sun bathing outside on the grass or deck.

The funniest though, was when he was hungry, he would kick his metal food bowl around the kitchen like a hockey puck to make sure we knew what he wanted. What a comical fellow he was! As long as we were by his side he completely happy and he made sure we knew how much we were loved. No matter what room we were in, we were sure to find the big white old boy following closely behind watching us contently.

Not a day goes by that we don’t think of our sweet boy and We will forever miss his comical loving character. He will always own a piece of our hearts.

Rest in peace my sweet baby boy,
Love mommy and daddy
