| “Ode to My First Friend”
Although I didn’t “look” like her, she loved me anyway.
Being young and playful, she ignored her aches and pains and obliged my beckoning.
If I tried her patience, she put me in my place, but was forgiving and accepted my shame.
After a long hard day of running her ragged, she snuggled me and when learning the “ropes”, she taught me well.
Like my people, I will always remember her and miss her friendship. No one shall ever compare.
With love and fond memories,
Luther
