Winston and Tara both passed on at the young age of six, in the spring of 1998. Tara (fawn female) came to us a year prior at the age of five. She had been over-bred and was rescued so she could spend the rest |
| of her days with our family. Winston (brindle male), who was five himself, welcomed his new friend Tara, and love to run and play with this little girl. They suntanned together, ate together, played together – it was like fate for the two of them to be together. On April 1, 1998, Tara was diagnosed with kidney failure and after five days of intense treatment, Tara was put out of her pain and sent to the “Rainbow Bridge”. Everyday Winston looked for Tara. He dodged the gate to run to the local park, but his friend was not there. He slept on her blanket and gave us her toys. There was no way for him to understand where his little girlfriend was. Exactly two weeks after Tara’s passing, Winston collapsed with no warning, and died in my arms. They had only been together one year, but they had an incredible bond – a bond that was created to give Tara a new life and Winston a new friend – best friends – that’s what they were – best friends. I truly believe that Winston died of a broken heart.
