Success Stories 2002
Maggie
is a very sweet little fawn female with docked tail and cropped ears.
She was surrendered because her owners could not afford the $1,500 surgery
to remove a rubber ball from her stomach and intestine. The vet clinic
where she was staying was so taken with Maggie that they simply could
not imagine putting such a sweetie to sleep. They called us and within
hours provisions were made to have her taken care of. We were looking
for a very special dog for a wonderful family who had adopted from us
in the past and who had lost their sweet rescue girl just before Christmas.
Thanks to the kind and extremely generous effort of one of our volunteer's
family members - a veterinarian by very happy circumstance - a "long
shot" plan to save Maggie was hatched. We rescued her from the vet clinic,
who were kind enough to wipe her "balance owing" clean as their way
of helping out. She went home with her foster mom, had the much needed
surgery and pulled through like a real trooper. Upon hearing that Maggie
would survive and be okay, our special family announced their affection
for this sweet little girl. Maggie is in their care now ... the most
wonderful "forever home" a girl could hope for. Good for you Maggie!

It's
hard to say who's happier: Sidda or her new family! Sidda (formerly
Greta) came into us in the worst condition we've seen in a very long
time. She was horribly thin, with open sores on her hindquarters and
a coat that was very poor condition with lots of bare spots. She really
had almost no fur and what she did have was dirty, dry and flaky. But
we knew when we met her that there was a beautiful, loving girl hiding
under the years of dirt and grime and so did her new family. After a
few weeks of tender care and many many baths a new girl began to emerge,
both in looks and personality. Sidda now happily spends her time lazing
on the couch, begging for treats, following her mom around the house
with an occasional back rub on the carpet thrown in for good measure.
As she settles in to her forever home, her shining personality and wonderfully
relaxed temperament are reallly beginning to come out and her family
is enjoying every new day with Sidda. Sidda is the type of dog who makes
it so worthwhile. Thanks to everyone who helped make Sidda's story a
true boxer rescue success story!

Tyler
(yet another former Tyson) now
lives in a quiet comfortable home in the Scarborough area with his new
extended family. This lucky guy has a new mom, brother, and a grandmother
to care for him. He also has a couple of cats - one that doesn't like
him too much, but with that big smooshy face - he will eventually win
that kitty over too! What a great Christmas for Tyler ... a new home.
(Adopted December 21, 2002)
Rox
was a wonderful, playful boxer that came to Boxer Rescue on Dec. 7th.
Within a few days he had made himself a home at his foster parents'
place. In fact, he made himself part of the family so well that they
could not bear to part with him and adopted him as their very own. Now
he shares his new home with his loving parents, two human brothers and
a cat! He now acts as the "Welcome Wagon" to all the new foster dogs
that continue to grace his loving foster home.
(Adopted December 20, 2002)
Owen!
What an intelligent Boxer! How he ever made it to Animal Control
we will never understand! Handsome, smart, muscular, playful, kissy
all the qualities in a great Boxer Boy! Owen now resides with his new
family who wanted him as bad as he needed them. He has 3 kids and a
Terrier mix canine brother to play with and love. Now kids watch out
for all your balls as Owen will deflate and hog them all! Owen you are
a truly unique rescue dog!
(Adopted December 20, 2002)
Energetic Zack (formerly Tyson) kept his foster mom on her
toes! What a fun, sweet dog! It didn't take him long to find his forever
home. He was adopted by a very nice family in Georgetown, who saw him
on the website, and just knew he was the dog for them. After meeting
him and falling in love, they took him home, gave him lots of love,
and a brand new name to go with his brand new family. Lucky Zack is
the only pet of the household, where he has two doting "skin" brothers,
and a very loving mommy and daddy. Way to go, Zack!
(Adopted December 19, 2002)
Nelix
(Buddy) is one lucky boxer as he is already become a great student
in obedience class. He has been playing at the doggie park with all
his new pals, who are not yet quite sure about this boxer bashing technique.
But after a good play and a good meal to put on much needed weight,
he is ready for bed and cuddles with his boxer sister. He loves riding
in the car and driving around Guelph and generally having a good time
in his new life.
(Adopted December 13, 2002)
When
China`s foster mom sent us pictures of China, we knew that we had
to have her! We went to see China and the first thing she did was the
boxer wiggle! We knew right then, she had to come home with us. We have
only had her a short time; however, she has fit into our family like
she has lived with us her entire life. She loves to go for walks (is
fabulous on a leash), roughhouse with her dad, give kisses and hugs,
and is extra careful around our young daughter. After we lost our 8
½ yr. old boxer, we thought we would never find another one. We have,
and she is definitely a member of the family. She has become my China
Doll. Thank you Boxer Rescue for bringing China into our lives (by
China's new mom).
(Adopted December 11, 2002)
Lolla
(formerly Jenna), though not quite a Boxer is just so darn cute!
This sweet American Bulldog cross was found as a stray and WOW what
a dog! She is so smart and loves to do agility! Her new family drove
for hours to pick her up. She now lives with them in Windsor, where
she is adored by everyone she meets. Good luck Lola your foster parents
miss you!
(Adopted December 8, 2002)
Connor
(Adopted December 8, 2002)
Murdock
(Adopted December 7, 2002)
Dancer(on
the left) is a heart-breaker. We can not explain why any one would want
to give up this 10 year old doll. Kisses and snuggles to all is her
moto! We thought she may end up as a permanent foster because of her
age but a special lady and her family east of Ottawa were determined
to make her part of their family! They called long distance every night
for updates until her dad was able to drive 5 hours here and 5 hours
back for her! Dancer is also loved by a Boxer brother and her human
kids. Her mom Mary is a kind sweet person, just like Dancer!
(Adopted December 6, 2002)
