Koda
aka Jack
We have had
Jack (previous name Koda) not quite 2 months now. It is like having a
little kid in the house again. Jack loves to play all day long. He is
forever bringing a toy to one of us to play with him. His most favorite
is a beat up soccer ball in the backyard – he goes outside and shakes
the ball like crazy. We have 3 teenage boys who think the world of Jack.
He makes all of us laugh with his antics. We have never seen a dog who
loves to run as much as he does. He goes to a leash free zone about 3
times a week to burn off some of his energy. Jack is great with other
dogs. He is in obedience class now and has had 3 lessons so far. Jack
has had previous training – it shows in the house. However, it was
very difficult to walk Jack on a leash – he pulled so much –
he just wanted to run. Now, he is great on a leash. When Jack finally
tires out he curls right into us on the couch and sleeps. At night he
goes to bed with one of the kids and will not get out of bed until they
do.
Jack came to us with medicines and ointments. It was believed he had environmental
allergies. We did find out that he is allergic to cheese. He broke out
in huge welts – but after the one breakout he has not had another
occurrence. He does not need any of the medications.
We could not be happier with Jack. He has made such an impact on all of
us. Thank you Boxer Rescue for all your work and support in the adoption
of Jack (Koda). Jack is perfect for our family and we are sure he is very
happy with us. Jack is an absolutely beautiful dog.

Eddie
It has been
a couple of months now since Eddie has come into our home. He seemed to
fit in almost immediately, and his new best mate Harley couldn't be any
happier. He is such a happy boy, and it is just like having another child
in the house, and just like Harley, has to get up on my daughter's bed
and listen in on story time right before bed. Loads of belly rubs, car
rides, and big sloppy kisses when it comes to Eddie. He is our gentle
giant so to speak. He puts up with a lot of abuse from Harley who is quick
to nibble on his ears and pounce on him when she wants him to play, and
it makes no matter to her that he is sleeping. He has definitely fit right
in here though, and can hold his own in a wrestling match with my husband,
and is the clear winner in tug of war every time. He is improving on his
nervousness when new people come to the door, and all of the neighbourhood
kids love to come and pet him when we are out for walks. Getting both
dogs to sleep in their beds, rather than ours is our last big hurdle,
and then I think we are all set. We can hardly wait for the warmer weather
so we can go outside for more than 20 minutes at a time, and see how fast
this baby can really go! Thanks to everyone at BRO for making both our
fur and furless family a complete one, and for all the help and support
that we still get from this caring group of people. Now we just wish that
we had a bigger house so that we could help more.
Thanks, Shelley Zurell and Family

Gidget
We were "dogless"
- just having two cats, however I always had a dog and was longing to
get one. My husband hadn't had a lot of experience with dogs, and what
he did have was 50/50 good & bad through his adult life. We both work
and didn't want to go through the puppy stages at this time, so we were
looking for a calm, quiet dog that we could give a nice home to. Knowing
that there were so many adult dogs available, and my husband really liking
boxers, I decided to check out Boxer Rescue.
Gidget took our hearts - her past was sad, but her description made us
wonder if she just might be the one for us. WOW - What a wonderful dog
we got!! She fit right in! She's such a good dog - what a match it was
between us - she was exactly what we've been looking for. Gidget's got
lots of personality and constantly makes us laugh. She's constantly by
our sides, and my husband now has a little 'buddy' he dotes on, (Daddy's
girl). When she knows she's going for a walk, she starts dancing in the
foyer on her hind legs, and he dances right with her. She's obedient -
always trying to please. She's good with our cats now, making her one
of the 'gang'. We've learned a few things about her, and really hope we
can help erase bad memories by replacing them with joy, love & a feeling
of security.
All in all, we are so happy that we found each other, & promise to
make these years the very best of her life. She's very good at giving
back the kindness she's gotten from us. She's a very loved & cherished
member of our family - without a doubt, we are her 'forever home'. She
will never be cold, alone, harmed or abandoned again.
Thanks to all of you at Boxer Rescue for letting us adopt her & being
there for support while we all adjusted to each other.
Yours truly
