Zipper

Woof..Woof,

"I am finally at my forever home and have actually started to figure out that my older sister Tabitha is okay. I love sitting upstairs and watching the squirrels play in the yard and love to the park to play in the snow with my new adoptive parents. I am finally at home and feel loved, safe and happy".... Zipper

Hi All,
Both Stephen and I are so pleased to have Zipper as part of our family. He is such a character and full of love. We cannot begin to say how much we appreciate all of the great things that Boxer Rescue and the great group of compassionate people in this organization do.

Thank you so much for introducing us to Zipper!!!

Josie

Hello my name is Josie and I would like to share my story with you.

I was left wondering the streets in Windsor and this guy they call a dog catcher took me to this place with other dogs in cages. I was there for a while and didn't like it at all and started to get depressed. So one of the humans at the shelter, called a group named BRO. That's when a lady came to visit with me and we played in the yard for a little while. I was amazed that when the lady was leaving she took me with her. As we were driving away from that place she introduced herself to me as my foster mommy and told me that I would stay with her and her family until my permanent family came along.

We ended up back at her place and I met 2 young boxers there. At first I didn't like it there because the other two boxers there were way to hyper for me and kept jumping up on me to play. I'm just too old for all that. You know once your over 10 yrs old you just want to relax and enjoy life in the slow lane. Well I ended up putting them in their place in no time flat. They no longer bother me.

My foster mommy took me to a doctor a week later because I was having some problems turning my head, walking and standing. The vet said that I had some problems with the bones in my neck, and arthritis in my hips and knees which was causing a lot of pain. The kind doctor said that surgery would help but with my age it would be too dangerous and extremely costly. So instead of putting me through that he gave me some medicine to help with the pain. Which I have to say it does help but I still have some pain when I try to climb stairs or turn my head. But my mommy gives me body massages whenever I need them. All I have to do is ask.

Now here's the best part of this story.

I was with my foster family so long I was starting to wonder why no one wanted me. Then one day my foster mommy told me that since I was up there in age and had some physical problems I was a hard placement but she said she was more than happy to keep me if I would have her. Well of course I would have her, she's so loving and gentle with me how could I turn that offer down. So here I'm a year later with a loving family and enjoying the rest of my life with a live in masseur. What more can you ask for?

Clyde

I can't believe it has been a year since my wife and I adopted Clyde. We have had so much enjoyment from him that we can't imagine being without him. There is not a day that goes by that we don't wish we knew what he would have been like as a puppy.

He has such a loving personality. All of our family, friends and neighbors (especially the children) adore Clyde and everyone knows him. he always has a lick and a tail wag for everybody. He is such an exuberant dog.

Since my wife and I are retired we spend quite a bit of our day with Clyde. He is relentless on letting us know when it is time for his twice a day walks and play time with our next door neighbors dog, Riley. It won't be long and we will be back at our cottage with him and he loves it there, especially in the boat.

Clyde has become such an important part of our family.

Maximus

You should know that we could not be happier with Max than we are. He has adjusted to us and vice versa, very well. He has the most delightful personality. Everyone in the neighbourhood loves Max. We took him to the Vet soon after his arrival here because he was not gaining any weight. We decided, with the Vet's approval, to reduce his thyroid meds a little. It worked. He filled out and looks great. We are lucky to have great area to walk him regularily and he has muscled up beautifully. Max loves the car. He goes with me just about everywhere I go and he has even travelled to Nova Scotia and back in the car. This spring he is going with us to South Carolina. He is just like a mother hen looking after a brood when either Michelle or I are out. He will even tell us a story when we get home, especially if he thinks we stayed away too long. He is the prince of all dogs and we couldn't be happier. Thanks for helping us make a home for him. He is a very special member of our family.

Brie

With retirement looming, I was looking for a challenge -- something to keep me busy after all those years in the paid labour force. BRO found Brie (formerly Babe) for me and what a wonderful addition she has been to our family. How does one put into words the fun, joy, and love that one puppy can give to a family? Brie has done all that and more. Her joie de vivre reminds us everyday that it is all about attitude. You see, Brie is deaf. But that doesn't stop her from enjoying life to the fullest. She loves to run and play and snuggle -- most of all, snuggle. Other than the fact that she doesn't give you the slightest notice when she is called, no one would ever think that she is different than any other puppy -- and she really isn't. She takes many of her cues from the Old English Sheepdogs, 8-year old Quincy and 5-year old Martha. But she is very much her own dog. Every day is an adventure for Brie and, by extension, for us.

I cannot thank the people at BRO enough for all the help they provided. We couldn't be happier.

Cass aka Rocky

Dear BRO:

Cass (formerly "Rocky") has only been with us for 3 weeks, but Mike and I can hardly imagine life without him now! He's an affectionate, playful and charming boy and has quickly endeared himself to us. He loves his romps in the bush, is rarely found without his rope, tennis ball, snowman or one of his other various toys, and is always up for a cuddle. We are adjusting well to him, and he to us, and we're happily taking on the challenge of being 'loving parents', learning how to work within the training he's obviously already had and how to work on new things.

Thanks for bringing us together with Cass!

Powder

Hi everyone! I'd like to send out a warm thank you to BRO for bringing Powder into our lives. I know now that there is such thing as a perfect dog and Powder is it! The first couple day/weeks have been great. We're still working on the cat thing (she has three kitty brothers that are very fun to chase!) She came to us with so much love to give and we can't get enough! Powder has a list of favorites which include: car rides, walks, sun bathing, throwing her toys around, lounging in bed with daddy, and watching out the window for neighbourhood dog friends! She is a great listener, knows all her commands and loves kisses. She loves the bath and hates the rain! We are so happy to have her in our lives and only have BRO to thank for that!

Sincerely,
Darren, Jen and Powder
