Connie

As I understand it, Connie (AKA: Roxy, AKA: Princess wiggle-butt) started out at a pet store, she was there until she was 5 months old. She was then adopted by a lady who surrendered her to the BRO only a year later for personal reasons.

The wonderful folks at BRO found her a foster family – Who are great and who I am still in touch with on Connie’s progress.

The day that I went to meet Connie, I took my current dog (a rottweiler 14 months old at the time) and my sister with me. I went into the house first to meet her, and she seemed to take to me fairly quickly, so I went out to get the rotti to see how they got along together, as they are fairly close in age. The true test. They got along famously, so I signed the paperwork and after some tears from the foster family - off we went to her new home.

Now; Connie has some issues, she is scared of men, didn’t know a lot of commands, and there was no way I was getting close to her with nail clippers. As well, when I adopted her she was quite emaciated. Now with some training, some deworming pills, switching her to a high quality food, and walking on concrete every day to keep her nails short, She has gained some wait, learned some new commands and we are getting along famously. The only issue outstanding is the aversion to men. However, with my boyfriend and my male roommate after about 6 weeks of being around them, she doesn’t cower and bark anymore, she actually runs up to them with a wiggle-butt all excited to see them when they come home. So progress is definitely being made. She is a doll, and I am very happy with my decision to rescue.

Thanks for all you do BRO and foster families!!!
